Dr. J. Grant Timmins
In 1964 when Dr. Timmins joined Dr. Robert Esau, they were the only optometrists and the only vision care service in the Peace-Liard area. Dr. Timmins served Dawson Creek, Chetwynd, Hudson’s Hope, Ft. Nelson, Watson Lake, and Cassiar on a regular basis. Now permanent offices in Fort St. John, Dawson Creek, and Fort Nelson serve these areas. Grant and Lucy have lived in Fort St. John since 1969 and have raised their family Mark, Jeff, Peter, and Carmen in the community. Their children have since moved on in their professional careers and the empty nesters enjoy spring, summer, and fall in the Peace Country, and take some winter time in Arizona. Dr. Timmins looks forward to part-time retirement and will probably continue to reside in the Peace Country where he enjoys the outdoors, hunting, and boating and Lucy enjoys golfing with her friends.
Dr. John E. Gentles

In 2006, Dr. Gentles was honored with the President’s Award for his decades of service to the optometric profession. He currently serves on the Board of Directors of the Northern Health Authority, and looks forward to many more years working to meet the visual and health needs of northeastern BC.
